Theme: Rebirth

Amplifying the voices of underrepresented creatives, join Eki’Shola Edwards and other multi-talented performers in an evening of music, spoken word, and creativity. Featuring Phoenix Song and Kayatta.

About the artists:

Eki’Shola’s music is “Half-time electronic soul for the mind” - Resident Advisor. Featured in PBS, NPR Tiny Desk Contest, KQED and most recently selected Best of the Bay 2020 Editors’ Pick, Eki’Shola’s music transcends genre, as she seamlessly draws from jazz, electronica, and soul music to create a sonic landscape all her own. A vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and physician, Eki’Shola uses her music as a conduit for healing. Completing her virtual tour in 2021 for her fourth solo album and inspired by observing the need for amplifying the voices of underrepresented creatives, Eki’Shola was moved to create and launch Unmute Magazine, a digital publication by and mainly for BIPOC artists. ASCAP Plus winner and four-time NorBay Music awardee, she has shared the stage with Dr. Donald Byrd and Steve Turre and has opened for artists including Bebel Gilberto, DakhaBrakha, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Lucky Otis, and Kitaro and is currently working on her fifth solo album, かえる(Kaeru).

Phoenix Song is a queer, non-binary, Korean American adoptee performer, teacher, and sound healer featured in San Francisco Magazine's Best of the Bay for yoga music. They specialize in world fusion and sing and play many instruments including didgeridoo, hand drums, esraj, and native flute. Phoenix delights in helping free people's voices and rhythm in private and group classes. They transmit the love frequency in sound baths that tune you from root to crown. phoenixsongmusic.com

Kayatta is an American rapper, poet, producer and educator who grew up in the drug tattered streets of West Oakland. Over the years she has developed into an all around talent who is not only skilled on stage but extremely effective in the classroom. Recently crowned best Hip Hop artist in Sonoma Kayatta continues to push the envelope socially, creatively, and dutifully. Effortlessly fusing poetry with drums and bass to create sonic goodness that seethes with musical audacious honey. Imagine Mc Lyte meets Ladybug meets Tupac.

Currently residing in Berkeley California Kayatta has found her niche and has been able to create musical compositions that speak to the masses. Not only is she extremely gifted with words she has a keen sense to connect with the community in a way that is healing and spiritual. This approach has resulted in a faithful community of fans who understand and can relate to the art she is curating and delivering. fanlink.to/KayattaMusic
