Celebrate STEM at MCPL

The Maryland STEM Festival is a month-long celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics that takes place every Fall. Students, families, friends, STEM professionals, teachers, volunteers will all enjoy events taking place throughout Maryland.

We’re proud to host many Maryland STEM Festival events at MCPL this year. Ours are among hundreds of community events this October and November showcasing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for people of all ages. Thursday, November 3

3-4pm
Careers in Cybersecurity at Wheaton Library
Professor Silvia Vargas, Professor, Cybersecurity Program at Montgomery College, Germantown will discuss careers and related in the growing Cybersecurity field. In the Meeting Room on the first floor.

Saturday, November 5

11-11:30am
Superb Saturday STEM – Binary Bracelets at Noyes Library for Young Children
Join us on the steps of the Noyes Library for some fun experimentation!

Monday, November 7
2-4pm
STEM Explorers Afternoon at Brigadier General Charles E. McGee Library
Would you like to code a caterpillar? Race balloon rockets? Examine a shark’s tooth? Join us for these fun science activities and more. A Maryland STEM Festival Event.

Tuesday, November 8
10:30am – 11:30am
Playdate at Chevy Chase Library
Drop-in and enjoy STEM and early literacy activities in the Children’s Room. Play and make new friends!

1-2pm
Google Drive Basics – Virtual
Join us as we learn how to use the cloud-based storage system Google Drive.

Internet Traffic Light – In-Person at Long Branch Library – How to Stay Safe Online
Understand that being safe online is similar to staying safe in real life. This program is appropriate for children in Kindergarten through second grade and their caregivers.REGISTER

Thursday, November 10

5:30-6:30pm
4-6th Grade Book Discussion – In-person – Book Discussion & STEM Activity
Germantown Library – Children’s Programming Room
Join us for a 4-6th grade book discussion, followed by a fun STEM activity.
